Dallas Ray Strong's Obituary
Dallas Ray Strong was born July 9, 1954 in Provo Utah to Dallas and Geri Strong. His mother said it was the hottest summer ever. He grew up in American Fork, UT with siblings Dalene, Paul, and Kathleen. He graduated from American Fork High School. He briefly served in the US Army. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, ID where he met Debra June Fielding. They were married on October 10, 1974 in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Ray worked as a Bus Operator with Utah Transit Authority for 37 ½ years. He loved people, and loved talking to people on the bus. Anytime Ray learned about someone on the bus who didn’t have a place to go for Thanksgiving he invited them to his home for dinner. Ray was awarded the Driver of the Year award at UTA and also served on the Accident Review Committee. He also worked for Hooper City as the City Emergency Manager.
Ray spent many years as a Scoutmaster with boys of all ages as well as adults. He was a Woodbadge Course Director and earned the Silver Beaver award.
Ray loved gardening and sharing the produce from his garden. So many families have been blessed by Ray’s tomatoes!
Ray is survived by his wife Debra, daughter Darcie (Denise) Strong, son Matt (Kimmey) Strong, son Weston (Michelle) Strong, daughter Ashley (Joel) Miyasaki. He is also survived by his SWEET granddaughters Quincie, Ali, Katelyn, Paige, Megan, Kenzie, and Libby.
