David Warren Harness, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and grandpa great, graduated from mortality following a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.
David was born on March 22, 1936 to Maudie Lee Tackett and James Warren Harness in Little Rock, Arkansas, the seventh of nine children. He graduated from Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University.
Dave married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Brooks, in the Manti LDS Temple in 1957. They have enjoyed many precious memories throughout their 60 + years together. Dave is the loving father of two beautiful daughters, Tamra (Preston) Cameron and Tracy (Steven) Royall, who adore him and benefited from his love of life and playful sense of humor. The Army was his next adventure where he served as a medic.
Dave managed several Safeway Stores and Allen’s Market in Orem, Utah. He later became a sales representative for Nabisco Inc. where his quick smile and charismatic personality helped him become one of the top salesmen in the western region.
Dave’s greatest happiness in life was found when surrounded by his family. Outdoor activities were David’s passion. His enthusiasm for boating, waterskiing, camping, motorcycling, snow skiing, jogging, and fishing were unparalleled.
Dave was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings including ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Temple and the High Priest Group leadership. He could always be found in the service of his family, friends and neighbors and was quick with a smile and a cheerful wave.
David is survived by his loving wife; Darlene, daughters; Tami and Tracy, brother; Eddie (Gena) Harness, Sister; Pauline Christensen, Grandchildren; Nicole (Daniel) Lovell, Tiffany (Peter) Shurtz, Jordan (Kelsie) Cameron, Brooks (Laura) Royall, Tanner (Jessica) Cameron, Kyleigh (Bjorn) Christiansen, and Taryn (Aidan) Mourik and seventeen great grand children. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Lehi LDS North Stake Center, 600 East 3200 North, Lehi, UT where a viewing will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment in the Lehi City Cemetery, 1525 North 600 East, Lehi, UT.
