David James Hurley's Obituary
David James Hurley, age 51, passed away suddenly in Layton, UT on the 26th of April 2025. Born in Phoenix, Arizona to Mark Hurley and Uri Namsai, David lived a vibrant life filled with adventure, music, and culinary artistry.
As the son of an Air Force serviceman, David experienced life in many places around the world. Among his most cherished memories were the baseball games he played while living in Turkey. After his family's global adventures, David returned to Arizona where he completed his high school education.
During his formative years in Arizona, David spent meaningful time with Buddhist monks and cultivated many friendships that would last his entire lifetime. It was also in Arizona where he married Shannon and welcomed two beautiful daughters, Victoria and Alexie, into the world.
Following his divorce from Shannon, David relocated to Utah to be closer to his father and sisters. There, he met April Silvernagel, who would become his significant other for many years and with whom he had a beloved son, Anthem. Though they later separated, David and April maintained a close friendship until his passing.
Throughout his career, David worked in various fields including construction, manufacturing, and retail. However, his true passion lay in culinary arts. David was an accomplished cook who found joy and creative expression in the kitchen. When not creating delicious meals, he could often be found playing his guitar – another passion well-known to all who knew him.
David leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his daughters Victoria and Alexie; his son Anthem; three cherished grandchildren; his father who resides in Layton, Utah; his mother of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his sister Judy Hurley; and nephews Eddie, Kyle, and Dominique. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his sister Diana.
David will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his artistic talents, and the love he shared with family and friends throughout his life. His memory will continue to bring smiles and warm hearts to all who knew him.
