Deborah (Debbie) Dianne Vallace Ivie's Obituary
Debbie was born to John Vallace Jr. and Billie Rae Overstreet Vallace of Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart Cleade A. Ivie on September 29, 1973 at her parents house in Kearns, Utah. Cleade and Debbie met at the 7-11 down the hill from Kearns High in 1971. They beat the odds and stuck together through the best and the worst of times which allowed them to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary in September. She took pride in showing her children that marriage took hard work, patience, communication and compromise.
She attended Kearns High School through 12th grade. Her career consisted of working at Sorenson and a couple of other businesses doing piece work as a seamstress. She worked in the bakery at Harmons off and on for a few years. At Purlator she had 25 years of service, working in several departments moving up to a supervisory position until the manufacturing facility relocated. During the holidays, she would also work an additional job at Lionel Playworld - determined to make her children's frowns turn upside down on Christmas mornings. She was the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor at GE (formally known as Dresser Inc.) for 20 years until the manufacturing facility she worked at closed its doors. After having two manufacturing plants close, a pattern was becoming obvious - she then decided to go back into the baking industry. She worked at Sweet Arlene for about a year until they went out of businesses. At last she found Schmidt's Pastry Cottage where she worked until she retired but on occasion - would go back to work when her help was needed.
She was known for her passion of elaborately decorating baked cakes/cupcakes. They became amazing pieces of art. At Christmas, she would make the largest and most delightfully tasting cinnamon rolls for family, friends, and colleagues. She was a very creative person and enjoyed doing all types of crafts masterfully. Most of all - she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She gave great advice and guidance to whomever went to her. She was such a wonderful person and she will be greatly missed.
She was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild and was never hesitant to tell everyone about their accomplishments. She always treated everyone as equals and did not show any favoritism - if she did actually have a favorite child (and you know who you are), it was never disclosed. She was a caring woman and made friends with any person who crossed her path.
She is survived by her husband Cleade Ivie. Her children, Kristy Anderson (Cody Anderson), Tracy Ivie (Erick Martens), Karen Ivie (Randy Haines), Kim Ivie (Anthony Velasquez). Her grandchildren Airika, Conner, Ashton, Chloe and Ayru. One great grandchild Ezekiel. Her siblings Sandy (Bill), Vickie (Kevin) and David (Lori).
She is proceeded in death by her parents John Vallace Jr. and Billie Rae Overstreet Vallace, her sister Linda Louise Griffis, great grand parents John Vallace aka Dad and Violet Hanson "Ninie" Vallace, and numerous uncles and aunts.
