Derek was one of the best men I knew. He opened his home to me and treated me like his own daughter and for that I will be eternally grateful. He was quick witted and always had a great comeback, I could never keep up with him. He was funny, kind, and strong. He always put his family first and was fiercely protective. His legacy will live forever and I hope I can honor his memory. I love you Derek.
