Derek W Lowe's Obituary
Derek W. Lowe, born June 22, 1977, in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away tragically in a car accident on January 16, 2025. He was the beloved son of Dennis William and Linda Joy Lowe.
On May 29, 1998, Derek married Kathryn Fuller, with whom he built a life filled with love and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his daughter Jessica, whose achievements brought him immense pride and joy.
From an early age, Derek demonstrated a remarkable talent for craftsmanship. A skilled fabricator, he excelled in working with wood and metal. His professional career included time at the Hicken family’s many businesses, including Plaza Cycle, Royal Trailer Manufacturing, and Highland Golf, where his precision and expertise in fabrication were widely admired.
Derek found his greatest joy outdoors, surrounded by friends and family. Whether camping, fishing, hunting, or sitting around a campfire listening to music, he embraced life’s simple pleasures. Known for his storytelling and warm hospitality, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome. A whiskey connoisseur and talented cook, his biscuits and gravy were legendary among those fortunate enough to enjoy them.
A passionate enthusiast of classic cars and all things mechanical, Derek shared his love for ingenuity with those around him. He was particularly fond of his ’86 Chevy “Lil Mule” and took great pride in being the reigning Cedar Mountain cornhole champion. His warmth, generosity, and humor left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Derek is survived by his wife Kathryn; his daughter Jessica; his mother Linda; his sister Nicole (Judd) Green; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis William Lowe.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and the Good Samaritans who sought to save him. A celebration of Derek’s life will be held at a later date.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
