Diana "Dee" McClellan's Obituary
Diana (Dee) Elizabeth Borg McClellan (76) was reunited with her late husband, Jay, Friday morning August 21, 2020.
Diana was nicknamed Dee by her father and that was the name she used her entire life. Born in Los Angeles, California, March 16, 1944, to William Daniel and Mary Swan Borg. As a youth Dee enjoyed dancing and took tap and hula lessons, horseback riding, swimming and trips to Balboa Island from her home in Inglewood, California. As a teen, her family moved to Rolling Hills and that home became a hangout for the youth members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in that area.
She attended Brigham Young University where she majored in Early Childhood Education. While at BYU, she met her sweetheart, Jay Louis McClellan. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple, January 28, 1966. Dee taught kindergarten and first grade until her first child was born. She later taught at several private pre-schools her children attended. Eventually, she became a private piano teacher and taught lessons from her home for over 40 years. She became a member of Utah Music Teachers Association and gave many young people, including her family, the gift of music. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life and held many callings including Relief Society president. She was always a strong and steady example of her faith.
A teacher at heart, she was completely devoted to her three children Kevin, Kimberly and Coray, all of whom learned to read at an early age, play the piano and eventually, all three have done some teaching as well. She never missed a performance, parent teacher conference or public event that one of her children participated in.
She had a passion for needlework and crafts of all kinds making gifts, decorations for her home for every season (especially Christmas) and clothing for herself, her children and grandchildren. Her home was a hub for family gatherings and visitors would always find a clean and quiet place with plenty of home cooked food.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister Rosemary Borg Summers. She is survived by her three children and 13 grandchildren.
