Dan was Chair of the Granite Community Council a few years ago. He initiated the bed races as part of our annual Independence Day parade & celebration. It was a very fun event, but, unfortunately, has not survived. Come on back, Dan!

Dan was a treasure, and will be remembered with love. I was always in awe of his beautiful back yard/ gardening skills. Thank you, Dan for being a great neighbor, and for all you have done for our community. Nadine and family, sending much love, and praying for comfort, and beautiful memories.

I wish I had known Dan lived in the Salt Lake area. It would have been interesting to get together and talk. In late 1965 and early 1966 I was a Junior Engineer on a training program with BPR and I spent four months on assignment working with Dan and his boss, Jim White at the Denver Federal Center. I had a great experience there working in Urban Transportation Planning. Dan was a super teacher then and i'm sure has been through his life. I have often thought about my experience there.
Dan Dake - a wonderful kind-hearted man, my father’s (Duff Erickson) college buddy and ski instigator. Our friendship with the Dake family grew through the decades. Dinners at the Bohemian and the lunch outings when my dad was in Salt Lake. Skiing with Dan, Dana & Chris and later just Dan, Duff and Greg. Alta, Snowbird, Snowbasin, Brighton, where we rolled up in his Subaru, hung the handicapped parking tag on the mirror and proceeded right to the ticket window. The Snowbasin trip on my Dad’s birthday was totally Dan as the guide. Up the new large Snowbasin access road, doing the Women’s Downhill course and on the way back finishing with a Shooting Star Saloon stop.
I always ski the Sunnyside lift bonus run he showed us. Having a ski run with Junior Bounous, and the Ziegler friends and some other characters their names elude me at this moment.
Forever my life was bettered having such dear family friends - Greg & Janette Erickson
I remember at one of the Dinner- In groups I had brought Lemon Pie which I had bought at Marie Calendars. Nadine saw me bring the in and she knew from the boxes. When I served the pie Dan made a big deal about it. He raved about how good it was and how Nadine must get the recipe from me! I finally had to fess up and tell it was from Marie Calendars, after Nadine and I, had a ball!!!
I indirectly worked with Dan in FHWA (Motor Carriers), late 80’s/early 90’s. I remember Dan as being a good leader and full of life and optimism. Definitely a go-getter and outdoorsman. May Dan Rest In Peace.🙏. My condolences to Nadine and Dan’s kids and grandkids.❤️
