Obituary – In Loving Memory of Edward Joseph Ferrin
March 8, 1956 – February 28, 2020
Proud United States Army Veteran
Edward Joseph Ferrin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020, in Ogden, Utah, just days before his 64th birthday.
Edward was born Eddie V. Edgerly on March 8, 1956, in Rantoul, Champaign County, Illinois. He was later adopted on September 2, 1965, by George Albert Ferrin of Eden, Utah and La Vaun Ida Stegen Ferrin of Clinton, Utah, who raised him in Ogden, Utah, instilling in him the values of hard work, family, and service—principles that guided him throughout his life.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army, proudly stationed in Germany as a military auto technician. During his service, Edward applied his exceptional mechanical skills to keep vehicles and equipment in peak condition, earning the respect of his peers and demonstrating the same dedication, discipline, and quiet courage that defined his character throughout life.
A highly skilled auto technician, Edward had an unmatched gift for understanding how things worked. Whether rebuilding an engine or lending a hand to a neighbor, he approached every challenge with patience, precision, and pride. His hands could fix just about anything, but it was his heart that truly made the biggest impact. He cherished spending quality time with his children, teaching them practical skills, including how to maintain and repair their own vehicles, and instilling in them a love for learning, problem-solving, and self-reliance.
Edward’s personal life was rich with love and family. He married Rosemary Ferrin, with whom he had two children, Eric and Jason Ferrin, and a stepson, Dale Bowers. He later married Linda Ferrin, and together they raised Sharon Hendricks, Rachel Herbert, Darlene, and Nick Ferrin. His final marriage to Janie Ferrin brought their daughter, Felicia Ringle, into the world and completed the loving family that he cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife Janie Ferrin, his children Eric Ferrin, Jason Ferrin, Sharon Hendricks, Rachel Herbert, Darlene, Nick Ferrin, and Felicia Ringle, his stepson Dale Bowers, as well as 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his devoted parents, George Albert Ferrin and La Vaun Ida Stegen Ferrin whom he now joins in eternal rest.
Those who knew Edward will remember his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his quiet wisdom. He taught by example—to serve with integrity, to love deeply, and to never give up when faced with hardship. Through his mentorship, patience, and generosity, he left a lasting imprint on his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of learning from him.
Edward’s life was one of service, devotion, and grace. Though he is gone from our sight, his spirit continues to inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
“Always remembered, forever missed.”
