Elmer Roy Dillard's Obituary
Elmer Roy Dillard passed away on Thursday February 1, 2024, at the age of 80, at his home in Sandy, Utah. Due to complications of age.
Elmer was born in Collinsville, Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roy and Dorothy Dillard on September 23,1943 at home.
Elmer attended school until about 9th grade and then started working at a young age.
In his early teens he came to Utah with his grandpa Goman to Mount Pleasant, Utah. His grandpa bought a home and some land. When Elmer was 19 years old, he met the love of his life through mutual friends Doyle and Carol who were dating. He married Helen Patricia Keisel on December 11, 1963 in Mount Pleasant, Utah.They were later sealed in the Manti Temple.
They were blessed with eight children. Six girls and two boys, and 12 grandchildren.
He loved his family with all his heart and loved spending time with them, fishing, going on picnics, getting ice cream, water fights, family vacations, trips to Oklahoma, and all the joys and frustrations of raising so many children, doing things with his extended family and they sure had some adventure.
He provided for his family as a butcher for 35 years. His work was hard and demanding. He did work at the Moroni turkey plant, helped build RoadRunner Trailers, and cleaned at a bank.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter- Day Saints. He took his callings very seriously. He was the best home teacher anyone was privileged to have.
He is survived by his wife Helen, children Marlena, Christine, (Mike), Jamerson, Jennifer, Scott, (Dede), Amanda, (Chet), and Tessa. Grandchildren Matthew, Cassie, Seth, Maddie, Foster, Patricia, Jaydon, Alexcia, Caydon, Carter, Savannah, and Ava. His sisters Ellen (John) and Emma (Robert). Nephew John (Crystal), niece April (David) and great-niece Rainee,(Jared) and nephew Raymond (Amber) , grand-nephews Joseph, Jordan, Josiah, and grand-nieces Madison, and Emily. Niece Dana.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Dorothy Dillard, brother Ervin, daughter Suzanne, and grand- nephew Nicholas.
Family would like to thank Utah Home Health and Hospice, Copper Ridge Health Care Lone Peak hospital, Alta View hospital, and Dr. Daniel Young. For the loving care they provided during his last months.
