Evelyn Beverly Kopp Madsen's Obituary
Our sweet mom returned to her heavenly home Tuesday, December 24, 2024. She blessed our family with love, patience and service for 93 years.
Evelyn Beverly Kopp Madsen was born on August 31, 1931 in American Fork, Utah to Samuel Kopp Jr. and Hilda May White. She was raised in Provo, Utah with her siblings Viola Kopp Peck, Fern Kopp LeBoeuf, Junior Samuel Kopp, Dean Edward Kopp, and Margaret Olheiser.
Evelyn married her eternal companion, Verl J Madsen, on March 13, 1948. They raised their four daughters, Karen, Jeri, Charlene and Denise in Orem, Utah where over the years many long-lasting friendships were made. Their home reflected moms love of beautiful dishes, fresh flowers, beds made, sparkling clean windows and a candy dish filled to the brim for guests. Her social and inviting nature made everyone feel welcome.
Mom loved to chat, reminisce and tell stories of her 93 years. She loved to connect the dots with a stranger, and those lucky enough to be part of her circle will forever be blessed. We will cherish sweet memories made with her.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evelyn demonstrated her love for the Savior by serving her family and countless friends daily. She greatly enjoyed her service in the church, especially serving the young women which blessed her life with everlasting friendships as well as serving a mission with her husband at the Provo Tabernacle. Mom contributed in countless ways to the building of the Geneva Heights 2nd Ward chapel in Orem, Utah where mom and dad attended regularly for 70 years. Mom still lovingly referred to the building as the Orem 9th Ward.
Mom’s most treasured gift and accolade is her family. She proudly lived to see her posterity grow to 5 generations. Mom didn’t ask or want much for herself, but would give all she had to her family.
We ask those who knew her to pay tribute by serving others, pray often, and say thank you.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Verl J Madsen; infant son, Joseph Allen Madsen; granddaughter, Camille Wilson Barber; and great- grandson, Kaden Mitchell Pecht, her parents and siblings. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Neal) Wilson, Jeri (Steve) Goffin, Charlene (Shane) Robbins, and Denise (Matt) Pecht. Her 16 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren will miss her open door, but don't touch the drapes policy!
We will celebrate mom’s life Saturday, December 28, 2024. A viewing will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 10:00 AM at 590 North 900 West, Orem, Utah. A funeral will then be held at 11:30 AM in the chapel mom and dad helped build. Burial will follow in the Provo City Cemetery.
