Evelyn lived at the Beacon Heights assisted living facility in Cedar Hills, Utah for several years. During her time there, she became close friends with many of the residents, employees, and neighbors. To her friends in the community, she was a friendly, outgoing neighbor who enjoyed outings to go shopping or attend church activities and parties. Even though church services were provided at Beacon Heights for the home-bound residents, she usually attended in person. Evelyn became the de facto resident leader of Beacon Heights activities and paid special attention to making life there brighter for even the most difficult residents. She made sure it was decorated for the holidays. She had a knack for understanding what her housemates were saying, even when unintelligible to everyone else. Even after she moved she would go out of her way to visit her friends across town. She took the residents at Beacon Heights under her maternal wing and cared for them with empathy and humor. Evelyn laughed a lot and was always positive, and her mischievous sense of humor was a light to us all. Even during the dark days of the global pandemic, Evelyn kept the atmosphere at Beacon Heights human, sane, and grounded. She made life better for those who served her and for those whom she served. I will miss visiting with her!
