I'll never, and never is accurate, be capable of telling the world how profoundly this man changed my life, and the changes are eternal.
The lessons he taught me include, how to survive a broken heart along with the value of integrity, confidentiality, work, truly believing in and pursuing dreams, and literally finding happiness and not expecting it to miraculously show up.
Above all, he taught me how to pick up the pieces and go on with honor and without malice.
His laugh was so completely robust and beautiful it could melt ill-will and bring relief to the heaviest of hearts
I met this miracle of a man in 1975 and shortly after, I was blessed with my first son. My boy is 49 now. He's a giant of a man who has survived impossible medical issues as a child. His name is Tyler. I remember the day I told Ty S. that if my child was a boy, his name would be Tyler.
Ty was moved and honored.
My son had done right my the man whose name he carries. Our world needs more of "both of them."
I've shared in Ty's disappointments and joys. I have many long ago memories I cherish.
Truly, one life can forever change another, for the good.
I love you Harley T Sandberg. I began to grow up the day I met you.
God makes few true heroes. I knew and loved one of them.
Rest in eternal peace, my brother.
I am forever your truest friend.
Please, if you're reading this, join me in thanking The Universe for the incarnation of this powerful and genuine soul.
