Howard John Lambert's Obituary
Howard John Lambert, 86, passed away on June 10th, 2023. Howard has been reunited with his wife, Nancy Anne Lambert, of 59 years and has gone home to his Father in Heaven.
Howard was born June 22nd 1936 to Thomas Allan Lambert and Marjorie Isabelle Linton in Millcreek, Utah. Howard graduated from Olympus High in 1954 and served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Calgary, Canada and surrounding areas. He was in the Army reserve as an engineer for 7 years.
In April of 1963, Howard was on a double-date and he couldn’t keep his eyes off his friend’s date through the rearview mirror. Howard said it took him 27 years to meet the love of his life and knew he couldn’t let her go from that day forward. Howard and Nancy were engaged in July and then married in the Salt Lake City Temple in December 1963.
They raised five children in Cottonwood Heights. John Calvin, Sally Anne, Howard Allan, Shauna Marie, and Amy Leigh. They were proud to be called Grandma and Grandpa “Red” by their grandchildren; Nathan, Mandi, Garrett, Trevor, Keith, Tina, Riley, Morgan, Carson, and Cassidy. Along with their great-grandchildren; Paisleigh, Canyon, Ruger, Benjamin, Hudson, Aiden, Brody, Chase, Kaydence and Ember.
Howard worked at Mountain Bell for 35 years, Continental for 15 years, along with some time working in real estate. In that time he and his wife enjoyed being volunteers at LDS Hospital for 35 years. They also volunteered for the 2002 SLC Olympics. Howard liked to create and build things, read, do yard work and loved to spend time with his family. In his later years, he enjoyed playing cards with his wife and friends.
Howard was diagnosed with Plasma Blastic Lymphoma Cancer in 2014; which ultimately took his life. His family, nurse; Rebekah and the Active Hospice staff cared for him in his final weeks in the comfort of his home.
Proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Marjorie Lambert, his wife Nancy Anne Ware Lambert, and his granddaughter Amanda Leigh Wood.
Survived by his children, John Lambert, Sally Wood, Howard Allan Lambert (Chantae), Shauna Ireland (Shawn) and Amy Callaway.
A graveside service will be held for his close family and friends on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Cemetery- 7111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. There will be a viewing in the cemetery chapel one hour prior to the burial to pay respects.
