Jack "Kevin" Jones' Obituary
Jack Kevin Jones, 72, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on August 17, 2025, at the University of Utah Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Kevin was born January 22, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jack Cozier and Evelyn Bartlett Jones. He attended South High, graduating in 1971. Kevin went on to graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics.
As a young man Kevin was involved in many activities from swimming, diving, cheerleading, snow skiing, boxing, golfing and horseback riding among others. He later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in England, where his service was cut short due to a severe car accident.
He married Kathleen Albrand on August 21, 1975, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five beautiful children.
Kevin spent countless hours helping with homework, building pinewood derby cars, cutting plywood for speaker boxes, and being the default mechanic for everyone's cars. Kevin never backed down from a home improvement or maintenance challenge, even if it meant putting on multiple band-aids every night. He was truly a self taught jack of all trades and was a constant resource for his children whenever they called.
A devoted member of the LDS Church, Kevin served in many callings throughout his life. He especially loved working with the youth. His influence left a lasting impact on many.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Jesica, Nathan (Tiffany), Jordan, and Preston (Keilah). Pure love and joy for Kevin were his grandchildren: Isaac, Daija, Avery, Olivia, Chandler, Jack, Pearl, Quin, Noah, Jace and Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters, April (Bob) Fry and Wendy Seeley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Evelyn Jones, and his eldest son Bryan.
Kevin battled many challenges with mental illness throughout his life. His family hopes to encourage others who may be suffering to seek help and know they are loved and not alone.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. A gathering will follow after at the Lindsey Gardens Pavilion.
