Jaclyn Wright Sorensen's Obituary
Jaclyn Wright Sorensen
1951 - 2017
My life began in Murray, Utah, on May 26, 1951. I was born to Gordon Lowell Wright and Melva Thorup Wright. I grew up in Murray and Holladay until dad built a home in Granite, Utah where I had many adventures skiing and hiking in the beautiful mountains. I served in the New York, New York City mission from January 1974 – July 1975 for our Savior. I was working at the Salt Lake LDS temple when I met my sweetheart, Don H. Sorensen. We were sealed in the same temple where we met on November 9, 1977. We were blessed with three children, Anna, Don Jr. and Ashley along with Issa and Ian that we were blessed to bring in from Don’s previous marriage. We bought the home across the street from the house I grew up in Granite and have spent the past 39 years as part of this wonderful community. I went back to school at BYU and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I began working as a copy editor for the Church News and the Ensign Magazine. I eventually began my own business, Wit and Whimsy, designing and making cloth dolls and their patterns. I became unable to continue as my health began to decline, leaving me unable to do the things I loved. I am heart-broken to have left behind my Don, who has been a constant in my trials and has never left my side, and our children. I want them to know, that I am finally free of my pain and am joyfully watching over them.
I am joining my parents, three brothers and son-in-law, Zach who have preceded me, along with my friend and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am survived by my siblings, Ginger, Liz, Judy, Layne, Will, Kirk, and Gary; our children, Anna (Hyrum) Donis, “Beef” (Karie) and Ashley McCurdy as well as my beloved grandchildren, Lillie “Boo”, Josie “Star”, Jonas “Joe Henry”, and Ian “Auggy”. I love you with all my heart!
I also want to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and CNA’s for their care over the last 15 years.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Granite View Stake Center, 9880 So. 3100 E. Sandy, Utah with visiting from 9:30 – 11:30 prior to services.
