James Ralph Foulger Jr's Obituary
James Ralph Foulger Jr, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Ogden, Utah on August 19th, 1943 to James Ralph and Luana Eyre Foulger.
Jim was an athletic prodigy whose talent was matched by his humility. He attended Highland High School, where he excelled in basketball, football, and tennis. Jim went on to play tennis at the University of Utah, and continued playing competitive tennis throughout his life.
In 1965 Jim was sealed to Eleanor Bentley in the Salt Lake City Temple, and together they have nine children.
His career as a commercial mortgage banker and real estate developer took him from Salt Lake City to Seattle, Houston, Dallas, and Washington, DC.
Jim served in the Central British Mission (1962-1964). He served as a bishop for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and along with his wife Eleanor, he served a mission in the London, England Temple (2009-2011). For more than 20 years, Jim served as a temple ordinance worker, including as a sealer in the London, England, and Dallas, Texas Temples.
Jim’s character was defined by integrity, generosity, and a great sense of humor. Kind and loving, he made everyone feel important. He adored his wife and children, and made sure they knew it. His example of faith and dedication to the Lord, are his legacy. He will be missed by his numerous family and friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eleanor Bentley Foulger; his children: Tiffany Foulger Brown; Stacy Foulger Jordan; Jon (Amy); Chris (Tami); Suzi Marchena (Alex); Amy Earl (Malen); Jamie Middledorf (Craig), Matt (Anne); Mike (Lauren), 35 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, brothers Ric and Rob, sister Jeri Foulger Wiscomb, half-brother Jon, and stepsister Jennifer Briggs West. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Anna Foulger.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 14th, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Foothill 1st Ward (1933 S. 2100 East, SLC). Friends may call on Wednesday, July 13th from 6pm – 8pm. at the Foothill 1st Ward (1933 S. 2100 East, SLC), and from 8:45 am – 9:45 am prior to services. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, follow Jim’s example and generously tip a service worker. Online condolences welcomed.
