Pat, Kathy, Mike and Mark. I am heart broken to learn of Kay’s passing. I have very fond memories of our year together in 1970-71 at PCHS. He and I worked together successfully to open the school and get through the year. After graduation, he continued to provide guidance, encouragement and advice. He was a confidant that I had no fear of discussing virtually anything with.
I always looked forward to getting together each November in Myrtle Beach. (The last time was in 2019). Most times at least one and sometimes both of my sons were with me. Over those few days each November, they developed the love and respect that I had for him. I know Kay and Chris corresponded some over the years. Although you and Kay have been gone from PC several years, you and your family left a lasting impression on many people. I can honestly say, that other than family, Kay did more to shape my life than anyone. He was so special and I am so thankful he was a big part of my life. Our prayers and thoughts will continue to be with you. RIP my dear friend. Ronnie Haley

There is not enough space to write all the memories, all the lessons learned, all the moments of laughter, of good times, even of stressful times that brought us closer because of such respect and understanding we had for each other. Mr. Hiatt was a man of exemplary character, honest and dignified. A man of faith. He had my deepest respect and devotion. My husband Bill and I send our deepest condolences to his family. A great man, but also a wonderful Uncle. We shared so many good times together as a family, from vacations to basketball and golf, and Uncle Kay was always teaching us about everything. We learned so much from him. A wonderful man to have as an Uncle, who set a great example for all of us to follow.

Kay is a man of character, integrity, and compassion. I've never known anyone who adhered more closely to his moral compass than Kay did. I learned from him and I admire him. He influenced my life and that of my family more than I can say. I think fondly of Kay every time I pass by his parent's home in Mount Airy. Wishing all the best for Pat, Mike, Kathy, Mark and all the other Hiatts I haven't met yet.

Mr Hiatt was a wonderful Math teacher at Meadows of Dan High School, Meadows of Dan, VA. in 1963- 64. I am glad I had him for all my Math related classes. A very kind teacher.
