James Cleon Marley's Obituary
James Cleon Marley was born October 31, 1929 to Walter Ray Tillotson Marley and Alice Baker in Oxford Idaho. He married Naoma Andersen on April 16th, 1955, and was later sealed to her in the Salt Lake Temple.
He attended West Side High and Pocatello High Schools. There he participated in all the athletic programs, and especially enjoyed boxing.
He also had a fond appreciation for and talent in music. He enjoyed singing and yodeling, yes, yodeling!
After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 and was stationed in Germany. He later worked as a civilian radar technician at Hill Air Force Base.
Jim loved being outdoors-camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, and skiing.
He had the opportunity to be a gate judge for the 2002 Winter Olympics. He had a green thumb and grew the best vegetable garden. Many neighbors and our own family were the recipients of his hard work in the garden. His pumpkins were award winning.
Jim was often asked to play the role of Santa Claus at the old Ogden Mall and family parties. His jolly soul was perfect for this gig.
He enjoyed meeting up with his friends from High School for lunch, once a month, at the Oyster Bar in Pocatello, Idaho.
He developed the talent of speaking Pig and Horse Latin and could fluently go between the two and English up until he passed away.
He passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Alice, brother Loren, and wife Naoma, along with his son-in-law John Chugg.
He is survived by his sister Sharon and brother Bill, along with his daughters Pam Taylor (Jeff), Laura Coffey (Steve), Deena Blanch (Brad), and Beth Chugg (John). He has 20 grand-children and 31 great grand-children. We love and will dearly miss our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend., his smile, humor, silly sayings, hugs, and heartfelt sentiments.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 386 E. Elberta Drive, North Ogden Utah, from 11:30am-12:30pm on Saturday, May 11th, 2024.
