Javann Owen (Nuttall) Wrathall's Obituary
Javann Owen (Nuttall) Wrathall, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on 29 October 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old.
Born on 25 October 1934 in Rigby, Idaho, to Vincent and Lucile Owen, Javann spent her childhood surrounded by family and the simple joys of rural life. She later moved with her mother and sisters to Jackson, Wyoming, where she developed a love for the outdoors, spending carefree summers exploring, fishing, and camping. Javann’s life was filled with adventure, family, and fond memories of picnics, and weekend trips to Yellowstone. The family eventually settled in Idaho Falls, where she graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
In high school, Javann’s enthusiasm and creativity shone as a member of the marching team, which she even helped name. It was also during this time that she met her high school sweetheart, William Garth Nuttall. They married on 26 June 1953 and built a life together, raising 9 children. The family lived in Idaho, Salt Lake City, Vernal and West Jordan during their married years. Later, after Garth’s passing, Javann found love and companionship again with Claude Prior Wrathall. Together they enjoyed cruises, trips to Georgia and Hawaii and enjoyed each other’s company for three wonderful years.
Javann was the ultimate Homemaker. She raised her children in a home filled with love, laughter, and the smell of freshly baked wheat bread. Her kitchen was the heart of her home—where she shared her talents for canning, baking, and creating nourishing meals that brought everyone together.
She was known for always having a smile on her face and chuckling when answering the phone. She had a talent for conversation and had the ability to make everyone feel welcome. She found joy in simple things—family gatherings, heartfelt talks, family game nights and serving others.
A gifted seamstress and quilter, she poured her heart into every stitch, crafting beautiful clothing, wedding dresses, dolls and costumes. She made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren—treasures that continue to wrap her family in warmth and love. Her creative hands and generous spirit left a legacy of comfort and care.
Javann had a lifelong passion for health and natural living. She studied Reflexology, Iridology, Herbology, and nutrition, and was the author of 100 Lifestyles of the Happy and Healthy. Her life was a testament to the power of positive thinking, self-reliance, continued learning and everyday happiness.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ and was an instrument in His hands. She served faithfully in many capacities, blessing many lives with her cheerful nature, wisdom, talents and kindness.
She is survived by Claude Wrathall (husband), sister Beth Lords (Spencer), eight children: Vicki Holmes (Dennis), Guy Phillip Nuttall (Anna), Roger Kay Nuttall, Sylvia Carpenter (Merlin), RosaLee Welch (Thad), Daniel Nuttall, Rachel Ward (Jim), Jacob Nuttall (Krista) and 31 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
