Joan "Joni" Michele Osgood's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Joni M. Osgood announces her passing after 81 years of life. Joni was a woman of grace and divine beauty. She was a great mother, sister, aunt, daughter, grandmother, and loyal friend to many. All of those who knew her loved her. She was so kind and loving to all.
Joni was born in Los Angeles, California to her parents Alexander and Virginia Ratteree and grew up in West Covina, California where she attended Covina High School in 1960. In high school, she met Robert “Bob” Earl Osgood where they first started dating. They went their separate ways for some time where she got married and had a son, Blair Davies. She was later divorced. After some time had passed, Joni reconnected with Bob and they started to date again and later married on October 11th, 1983. They were inseparable ever since. They were married for 35 wonderful years. They lived in Twin Oaks, California for most of their marriage. They had a beautiful house with a ton of land where they got to live in their own little paradise. They both retired there and quickly became part of the community. She worked at the general store in Twin Oaks as a waitress. Bob and Joni loved the general store and ate there almost every day for lunch. Bob and Joni were dog lovers and rescued many dogs throughout the years. In 2017, Bob was diagnosed with a terminal illness, ALS. Because of this Joni and Bob moved to Ogden, Utah with his daughter Cindy and son in law Mike Trujillo. Joni took care of Bob until he passed in 2019. Joni stayed in Ogden with Cindy and Mike. During this time Joni loved to go to the gym where she could dead lift 110 lbs. She also loved to get her nails done, get her lashes done, hang out with her dogs, garden, and go shopping. She always stayed busy. Many family and friends came to visit her in Utah.
Joni was a very strong and giving person. She was never afraid to face new challenges. She always took things with a “it is what it is” mentality. In the end of 2023, Joni was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer that spread to her spine, that was terminal. She took this diagnosis with her typical attitude, with grace, strength, and a positive attitude. She was weak but that didn’t stop her. She started radiation and chemotherapy immediately and was able to get mostly back to her normal. Even near the end Joni was strong and you could barely tell that she was going to be leaving us soon. She never feared death even while she was passing. She was surrounded by love on her last day. And on March 17th, 2024, she lost her battle and left us to be with Bob and her parents. She would want us to deal with this hard loss just like she dealt with everything in her life, with grace, strength, and a great attitude.
Her son Blair said “I have had 53 great years with her in my life and was selfish and wanted more, I feared death, and did not want her to go. She had taught me so much. She would want us to deal with this hard loss just like she dealt with everything in her life, with grace, strength, and a great attitude.” Speaking for the rest of our family we all did not want her to go. Joni was such an amazing woman with the most positive attitude. She will be missed dearly.
The family wants to thank everyone at the McKay Dee Cancer Center. All of the doctors and nurses that were so kind to Joni in the last few months of her life. Your work does not go unnoticed.
She is survived by her three sisters Andrea, Janie, Mari, and her brother Alex, her son Blair (Tracy) Davies, her three stepchildren, Cindy (Mike) Trujillo, Jim (Gentri) Osgood, and David Osgood. Her grandchildren, Breanna, Courtney, Jordan, Saige and Amanda. Nieces and Nephew: Ken Mort, Debbi Blandino, and Julie Mort. She had many other nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by the love of her life Robert Osgood, and her parents.
There will be a celebration of Joni’s life held Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 10:30 am at Premier Services, 5335 South 1950 West, Roy, Utah 84067
In memory of Joni, the family would love if you could write down your favorite memory of Joni on a piece of paper to be read at the service, there will also be paper and pens to jot down some memories if you want.
Bob and Joni had a favorite song they both loved that depicted their life together, Together Again by Buck Owens.
Joni would say after Bobs passing “dreaming of you until were Together Again.”
No need to dream anymore, now for eternity Joni and Bob are Together Again.
