John Edgar Beal's Obituary
On April 20, 2023 John Edgar Beal said goodbye to his wife, Florence (Carlile), children, Douglas and Cherie Beal, Michelle Beal, Michael and Jenny Beal, Laura and Alma Haskell, and grandchildren Ian, Hannah, Sydney, Alison and Trey Beal, and Bethany, Jacob, and Daniel Haskell as he left his mortal cares behind for progression in an eternal realm.
Born February 23, 1938, to Clive Edgar and Josephine Roghaar Beal, he grew up with siblings Grace Ann (deceased), Gerald, Beverly, Martha, Marie and Jill.
John completed a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Netherlands and married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1961. After graduating from BYU with a degree in business, John began a 38-year banking career. He began as an officer trainee and worked as an operations officer, loan officer, and branch manager. While residing and working in Provo he held many community positions, including president of the Central Utah Chapter AIB; director, treasurer, vice president and president of the Provo Kiwanis Club; president of the Utah County Bankers Association; treasurer of Provo Freedom Festival; Utah County March of Dimes; treasurer/secretary of the Downtown Coaches Club; trustee and chair of the Provo City Library Board; member of the Utah Bankers Association Legislative Task Force; member of the Utah County Heart Board; and SCORE counselor for the SBA.
He fostered friendships with those he helped in banking, community work and in his experiences serving in The Chuch of Jesus Chist of Latter-day Saints. His service to his church helped increase his testimony and enrich his life. After retiring John and Florence moved to Pleasant Grove, where they enjoyed the friendship and caring help of their new friends and neighbors.
John enjoyed coin collecting, hiking, camping, backpacking, fishing, and traveling.
A memorial service will be held on April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Mount Mahogany 5th Ward building at 1541 North 1300 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed live at wasgl.com/church-at-home/5 Link will not go live until the service begins. Link to be posted soon. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 9:00 am to 10:30 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at the cemetery in Heber City.
