John Dee Lamb's Obituary
John Dee Lamb peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, on October 23, 2024, a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born on June 9, 1948, in Provo, Utah, the 6th child of Glen D. and Jennie Reah Anderson Lamb.
He attended schools in Provo. He graduated from Brigham Young University where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class. He earned two master’s degrees.
He married his eternal sweetheart Kristy Martin Lamb on August 28, 1970, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 5 children, Kimberly Lamb, Shelley (Mike) Hendrickson, Sean (Shelley) Lamb, Marie (Darin) Patrick, Wendy (Jeff) Gamette and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John dedicated his life to working hard to support his family often working two jobs. He spent 32 years in the employment of the Utah State Hospital working as a recreational therapist on the Hope Unit and then as an analyst in the Human Resource office. One of his second jobs was officiating sports games to be able to attend his children’s ballgames and still support the family financially.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His favorite calling was serving as Bishop of the Grandview South 13th Ward. During his time serving as Bishop, his family was blessed in many ways, including the marriages of four of his five children. He was a true disciple of Christ loving and serving ‘the one’ everywhere he went.
Stories of his impact on others have been pouring in since the news of his passing. To know him, even a little, was to feel loved by him. He was a champion to so many, often to those who needed it most. He was an example of what one can become when they dedicate their lives to others. We love him so much! We will miss him so much and we will work hard to honor his legacy of love and service.
John was preceded in death by his parents a brother and sister-in-law Ricky (Sharon) Lamb and Brother-in-law Tom (Glenice) Baker. He is survived by his wife, children and siblings Gene (Nanette) Lamb, Glenice Baker, Bill (Sandy) Lamb, Kaye (John) Beck, Charlie (Ruth) Lamb along with many nieces and nephews that Dad absolutely loved.
