John William Rasmussen's Obituary
In loving memory of John William Rasmussen, born to John and Diane Rasmussen on July 13, 1969 in Camp Kue, Okinawa. He passed away in his home in Kearns February 12, 2023. John grew up in Rose Park. He was a graduate of West High School. He was a veteran who served in the US Army in a linguistics unit where he learned Russian. John was an Elder in the LDS church and served a mission in the Philippines where he also learned Tagalog. He had a very big heart and was an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He loved his work serving senior citizens with insurance and helping them with financial planning for their end-of-life needs. He also enjoyed working for Dominoes Pizza.
John enjoyed watching sports. He was an avid Steeler’s fan and always spent Super bowl Sunday with his friends. He attended the U of U women’s gymnastics and always had a spare seat available for his nieces. He also loved to attend dance and gymnastics events of his nieces and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
John loved to play a variety of games, watch movies, and participated in a bowling league. He loved to share his hobbies with his friends and family.
He was sweet and loving, someone to look up to and someone you always wanted to be around. He always loved spending time with family and friends whether it was just getting a bite to eat, watching a movie, or playing games.
He is survived by his parents, John and Diane Rasmussen, sisters Rebecca (Kiesh Easterwood) Rasmussen, Kara (Brandon) McGee, and Annie Tomas Higa as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
A viewing will be held February 16th from 6pm to 8pm at the LDS Church, 1155 North 1200 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held February 17th from 10am to 11am at the LDS Church, 3750 West 6200 South, Taylorsville. Services will be held at 11am after the viewing with graveside services located at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek.
John will be deeply missed and not forgotten. He will be in our hearts and memories until we meet again in heaven. We love you so much.
