Justin Alexander Macdonald's Obituary
Justin Alexander Macdonald died in his sleep at age 40 on December 27, 2023. After a year battling his second round of brain cancer, his last few weeks were at home surrounded by family.
Justin was born to Larry and Cindy Macdonald on January 13th,1983, and was the older brother to Brianna, Andrew, and Nathan. Growing up in Arizona, his family would spend time exploring beautiful places like Sedona, where he would return many times with his wife and five kids.
Justin met his wife, Elise Mary Macdonald, while studying Computer Science at BYU. They were married on December 28, 2006 in the Mount Timpanogos temple, celebrating with a waltz. They graduated BYU together in April 2009 and were together for 17 years.
Justin enjoyed the everyday moments of life and moved through its challenges with grace. He was consistently kind, generous, faithful, and knew when to throw in a well-timed joke, never at anyone’s expense.
His greatest legacy is as a father to his five children William, Fay, June, Declan, and Winnie. In the summer he would wake up early to take the whole gang on a bike ride before work and as soon as he shut his laptop, he was working in the yard, helping with dinner, and spending time with each of his kids before bed. Winnie took full advantage of his generosity, making Justin hold her for the first three years of her life. He gave them all his love and attention.
Justin lived an extraordinary ordinary life. We will honor and celebrate it at a funeral service on Friday December 29th, 2023 at 1:30pm. The service will be held at 98 E Canyon Crest Rd Alpine, UT.
