I only knew Sonja for a few short years. When I met her she was still walking down to Day's Market and back with groceries, still mowing her own lawn, and keeping up her beautiful yard and vegetable garden. Her lawn was always so neat that her son Erik would always tease her when he came to visit by telling her he saw a leaf on her grass. I was so impressed with this lovely woman. Her mind was sharper than most people half her age and her memory for dates and events was amazing. She was welcoming and gracious always. Sonja patiently taught me how to make various Danish dishes which she knew pleased her son. She loved nature and would always marvel at the beauty of the world which she referred to as God's work. I feel blessed to have known Sonja and will miss her bright light.
