Karma Jean Steggell Wootton, age 78, passed away August 5, 2021, peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Karma was born February 17, 1943 to Wilford and Vera Savage Steggell. Karma was raised in American Fork, Utah and attended the local schools. She graduated from American Fork High School and Seminary in 1961. Karma married John Bert Wootton on July 18, 1964. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Karma is survived by her four children: Troy Harold Wootton of Orem, Utah, John Eugene Wootton (Shelley) of Sandy, Utah; Jeffrey Lynn Wootton (Emily) of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Verlynne Witney (Ryan) of Springville, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Karma was preceded in death by her husband Bert, her parents, and her three brothers and three sisters.
Karma was a kind and generous person. She was a dedicated friend with many close friendships lasting for decades. Karma developed many talents throughout her life from cooking and sewing to needlework. Her homemade rolls were legendary! Her favorite pastime was cross-stitching…the more complicated the pattern, the better! She spent many hours cross-stitching missionary maps, wedding announcements, and baby announcements for friends and family.
Karma had a great love for her pets. She treated them as her children later in life and got immense pleasure from them.
Karma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of prayer. She served in the Relief Society for many years and enjoyed the friendships that she made through her monthly telephone calls to the neighborhood sisters.
