Kay Jean Dykster's Obituary
Kay Jean Dykster passed away on July 2nd, 2026, at the age of 81 after a hard extended struggle with pneumonia at “The Terrace” Mt. Ogden nursing home.
She was born in Ogden, Utah, to John Henry Dykster and Emma Lea Higgs on May 21,1945. She married Boyd Lynn Hawes in the LDS temple and they were later divorced. She then married Ralph Gregory and she later divorced him. Lastly, married Richard (Ricky) Vigil but then she later divorced him.
Kay was known for her kindness and generosity which made her vulnerable to people taking advantage of her. Kay was good with numbers and could memorize them better than a lot of people. She was very resourceful far beyond her education. If she wanted something she would find a way to get it. She loved music and enjoyed dancing, etc. Bingo was something she enjoyed and was very lucky at playing the game.
Kay is survived by her 2 sisters Betty Moser (Rudy) and Darlene Allred (Jerry). She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Vivian Magagna (Ray), June Hensley (Bob), Helen Rigley Boren (Kenny), Jeanette Pultrum (Jake), Sharon Benson (Benny), and brother Johnny Dykster (Sue).
The family would like to give special thanks to her sister “Darlene” for taking on the responsibility of caring for Kay most of her adult life, due to brain injuries from a car mishap at a very young age, leaving Kay with special mental and physical needs. We would also like to give a special thanks to Valorie Kirch (Niece) for her loving help and care that she gave Kay for many years.
Kay lived at The Gardens Assisted Living for 4 years and The Terrace nursing home for approximately 4 years and made many friends who loved her. We would also like to thank Ronal with Atlas Hospice for her support and loving care in her transitioning.
