OBITUARY
Kay Marie Petersen Golding
August 24, 1935 – March 12, 2021
Kay Marie Petersen Golding, 85, of Phoenix, Arizona, returned to her heavenly home on Friday, March 12, 2021. Born in Price, Utah to Lorenzo Erastus Petersen and Wanda May Snow Petersen on August 24, 1935.
She is survived by five children – Debra (Kevin) Dawkins, Rachelle (Scott) Johnson, Bary (Dorothy) Golding, Geri Lin (Larry) Newton, and Thad (Lori) Golding; 12 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Evan, her parents, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She grew up on the family farm in Wellington, Utah. Kay married Evan Elden Golding on September 2, 1952 in Provo, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Utah Temple on July 27, 1953. They started their life together in Provo, then moved to Salt Lake City, where they raised their family. Later they lived in Phoenix, Arizona, and La Habra, California. While raising her family she ran Kay Golding Drapery in their home. That allowed her to be at home with her children while they were growing up. Her business provided drapery services to Evans interior design clients, most notably including Coveys Hotel (later Little America), the Salt Lake Masonic Temple, and the Capitol Theatre Stage. She taught her daughters to be great seamstresses. She later worked in retail. She volunteered in reading literacy programs in Salt Lake, Phoenix, and La Habra. She spent her life serving in many callings in the Church, as Ward Librarian in many wards, Ward Relief Society President, and her favorite calling was Gospel Doctrine Teacher. She enjoyed reading the scriptures and other church books. She had a strong testimony of the Savior.
Kay spent her last years at Arizona Desert Falls in Phoenix, Arizona. The family wants to thank them for the loving care that they showed her and how they considered her as family!
