I spent a lot of time visiting with Lew by the auditorium. He was giving me dating advice.
I remember when my sister Sally died he came to the viewing and was so sad with grief. I will always appreciate his tender soul. One of the best Highland Rams ever.

One of the best memories of Lew is the famed 1974 intermural football championship at the University of Utah. The champions, Lew's Marauders. Members of the Highland High class of '71 football team, this group of recently returned missionaries, led by Lew Hansen, beat all of the entitled fraternities, to go go undefeated and earn the title. Rest in Peace, Big Lew.

Lew was as fiery and spirited as his red hair. He was the heart and sole of our Highland High football team. He was a loyal Ram through and through. He did a lot to keep our group of football friends together, even to the present. One year , in about the mid 80’s, he organized a reunion of former Highland football players around homecoming. I was doing my medical training in Southern California and told Lew I couldn’t afford the time or expense to attend. The next day I received in the mail a round trip ticket to fly to Salt Lake and back from my dear friend, Lew Hansen. We will miss your energy, loyalty and generosity!
