Lori was a dedicated, caring, honest, and courageous school leader. She was intelligent and thoughtful in her decisions about her school, and her decisions at the district level, for the benefit of students and families. All who knew and cared for Lori will miss her quick wit, her smirk when she knew more than we did, and importantly, her personal giggle of insights we heard and now treasure. Lori was an educational leader that extended beyond the borders of the school district she worked for. Her influence to help children and families was led by her commitment to meet with and support statewide and national organizations. I will forever value and treasure my friendship with my educational leader Lori Thorn. She gave a presence of personal perspective and support of hope for what possibilities exist for the future for all children and families.

I was one of Miss Jones first students, I think the very first year she taught PE was at Lehi JR High. I was in 7th grade and she was so good to us. When I was in the 9th grade, same school, I took PE again and I was so confused. The school counselor told me I had the same gym teacher from 7th grade. Apparently, Miss Jones had gotten married and became Mrs. Thorn and yes, she was the same, very sweet, kind, and great with her students. I’m sad to hear of her passing from cancer and the loss to all that loved and cherished her. May you all find comfort & peace during this time and cherish your memories of her.
Lori was first my friend growing up. She was one year younger than I in school, but lived in the same town, Ferron. She was always so much fun! Then she became part of our family. Her younger sister, Karen, and my younger brother, Wayne, loved one another and were married. Before her sister, Karen, passed away, they had a son, Brayden, who Lori and I adored and would speak of fondly whenever we got together. A fun memory of Lori and her sister, Karen, was something I was able to witness a few times. They would compete over who could call each other first on occasions like holidays and birthdays. Lori is a lovely, elect lady and will be truly missed. My heart and prayers go out to you, her family.
Lori was an amazing educator. i was able to work with her the last few years while she was in the district office. youve earned your wings girl, soar.
Lori (Mrs. Thorn) was my student counsel advisor at Lehi Jr. I have so many fun memories from that time. Becoming an educator myself, we laughed when we found ourselves sitting by each other at district meetings 20 years later.
Lori had a big, meaningful impact on me and my life. I will always remember her for her kind heart, her sense of humor, and her dedication to public education.
Love this lady so much. I was the school psych for several years at Polaris and crossed paths many times after with district assignments. Such a gem who loved her students and always looked to help them move forward. So many funny and amazing memories laughing and struggling together. Deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
Lori was a kind and thoughtful person. She advocated for everyone and never met a problem that couldn't be solved. Her humor was needed in many situations at work and much appreciated. I am better for knowing Lori and the world was a better place because of her.
Lori and I shared the love of teaching PE to teenagers. She also mentored me as a young assistant principal and working with at risk kids. I learned so much from her and her calm demeanor. Lori was so much fun to hang out with and I loved her sense of humor. Love you Lori💛
