Lori Deann Thorn's Obituary
LORI DEANN THORN - 58 of Mapleton, Ut. Surrounded by loved ones, began a new adventure on the afternoon of March 14, 2024. Lori was born in Las Vegas, Nv, and after a few years her family moved to Ferron, Ut where she grew up. She graduated from Emery High school as a Sterling Scholar. She then attended BYU, after graduating she began her career in education. As a life-long advocate for education, she mentored thousands of youth in various roles for Alpine School District and impacted many thousands more siblings, parents, and faculty. She also encouraged her own children to pursue an education of any form. She was insistent that learning is life long. She enjoyed winning at card games and board games alike and would always put into play, “best out of three”. Though she will be missed by many friends and family, her memory and passion for dill pickles will live on. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Martha Coley, her uncle Donald “Donnie” Coley, her mother, Jacklyn “Jackie” Jones (Wally Jones, Doris Jones), and her sister Karen Huntsman (Wayne Huntsman). She is survived by her father Wally Jones (Doris Jones), husband Brian “Rocky” Thorn, her children - CaDee Thorn, Tyler Thorn (Becca Thorn, Kallan Thorn, Kori Thorn), Justin Thorn (Annabell Thorn, Cilian Thorn), Landon Thorn (Cass Thorn, Lacey Thorn), and Zac Thorn, her brother Wally(Jr) Jones (Julie Jones, Taylor Galahan, Nick Jones, Walt Jones, Kelsey Jones), Wayne Huntsman, her nephew Brayden Huntsman (Laurel Huntsman, Liam Huntsman, Lincoln Huntsman).
There will be a viewing Tuesday, March 19, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be the following day starting with a viewing from 9:00am to 10:30am. Program services start at 11:00am. A graveside service will start at 3:00pm at the Ferron City Cemetery. The family would like to express appreciation and gratitude to Steve Wallentine, MD. To the many medical professionals who helped her through her struggles with cancer. To Intermountain Homecare and Hospice for their tender care. A special thanks to Annette Nielson who stood by and helped Lori navigate through her journey with cancer. And to all those who have made Lori’s life what it is.
Viewing and funeral service will be held at the Mapleton 13th ward chapel. Located at 970 N 400 E, Mapleton Ut 84664. Graveside service will be held at the Ferron City Cemetery, located at 325 E 200 N, Ferron Ut 84523
