Lucinda "Cindy" Andersen Clark's Obituary
Lucinda “Cindy” Andersen was born on September 25,1952 in East Millcreek, Utah, the fourth of four daughters to Harmon and Nadeene Rees Andersen.
At the age of 5 Cindy was struck by a car while crossing 2300 East after visiting a friend. The driver was intoxicated. Cindy spent a long-time recuperating. She carried a scar on her right leg from surgery to repair her femur with a pin-a reminder of her strength and resilience.
Cindy loved Cats, Dogs and most of all Horses. She replaced live horses with a cherished collection of 70 Painted Ponies figures. Ballet was passion for her, and she took classes weekly until December 2025.
Cindy attended Skyline High School and graduated in 1971. While at Skyline she was a member of the La Nichees precision marching group. She maintained three lifelong friendships with Susan Tibbitts, Laura Haug, and Jane Hawkes.
In 1979 She met Allen Clark and they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1981 and in 1985 they welcomed their son Ben.
In 1990 she decided it was time to pursue higher education and enrolled at Salt Lake Community College and graduated in 1991. While there a ballet instructor encouraged her to pursue dance professionally. At age 39 she applied and was accepted into the University of Utah school of Ballet. After one year she decided that she didn’t want to compete with 18-year-old dancers and changed her major to geography and earned her bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in Geographical Information Systems in 1997. She continued her education earning her master’s degree in 2005.
Cindy worked for the State of Utah in the Automated Geographic Reference Center for many and taught geography at Salt Lake Community College in the evenings.
Though not a swimmer, Cindy spent many summers rafting and canoeing the Colorado River and even managed to get certified in SCUBA diving. She was an avid fan of the University of Utah athletics, specifically Football and Women’s Gymnastics. She loved traveling, the highlights were China, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Spain and many places throughout the United States.
Cindy is survived by her husband Allen; her son Ben and his wife, Deanna; and her sisters Penny Rigby and Becky Nielson (Mark). She was preceded in death by her parents Harmon and Nadeene Andersen, and her sister Kathleene.
I want to thank Elevation Hospice, April, Gabby, Anna, Amy, and Melissa for all of the caring services and love that they have provided both of us.
There will be no funeral, but she preferred a grave side remembrance at Elysian Gardens 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek Utah Tuesday June 16, 2026, at 12:00pm.
