Sister Lyman was my seminary teacher immediately after I joined the church. The few months that I got of the Doctrine & Covenants were filled with truth that I could build upon. The next year, through the Book of Mormon, I became aware of much more. Thanks to her, I had a solid foundation. Thank you for those 6:00 a.m. classes. You have always lived in my memory. I am Lyn’s younger sister, and have always been treated kindly. It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to sing with her, my mother, and the rest of my sisters, there wee six of us. We sang together as we picked raspberries from our garden. Lyn was kind and fair whenever we had squabbles like most sisters do. I will always treasure the times I was able to spend with her, growing up and with her during her illness. I love you my dearest sister and friend and will miss your beautiful smile with our hands together. Goodbye for now but we will be together again in the hereafter with our beloved family!.
Sister Lyman will be lovingly remembered ❤️. She, her husband Scott and their family moved to Pennsylvania for a few years. Our Church congregation was at a time of recovering from Hurricane Agnes in 1972 where we lost our chapel, which was just across the street from the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg. Their family, with all their love, energy, and work were a needed boost to our struggling congregation.
We were meeting in an old church in Lebanon for Sunday services, and our Primary meetings were held in an old, former Milton Hershey School house off Rt. 39. Her husband became our Bishop and I remember Lyn being my older brother’s Seminary teacher. As a child, I also remember that she was a wonderful Primary Music Leader! She made music time so fun and interesting! I especially remember her kind and sweet spirit, she was soft spoken and positive.
It was fun to visit with her and Scott several years back when we made a trip to Utah. Lyn was a wonderful example of loving people unconditionally and inspiring them to be their best.
Our condolences to the family, Heaven has gained an Angel. ✨
Dear Uncle Tom and family,
Just a brief note of appreciation and gratitude for the life Aunt Lyn lead and the example she is to all she came in contact. I have fond memories of family gatherings and times she reached out in love and encouragement through letters and other events. She is always taking the positive, hopeful view of all situations and circumstances presented in life. I loved hearing her sing with her sisters and she possessed many of the wonderful attributes of her mother Casse. The heritage she honored is note worthy and her testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel was and is ever present. Becky and I appreciated the wonderful tribute today at her funeral from each family member. God bless you and your family always. When I learned of her passing I immediately thought of the enormous crowd that would be cheering and welcoming her home including my own parents. I am 100% certain she is very happy with myriads of loved ones who love her as much as those still here do.
