Marguerite Ruth Billington Kirk's Obituary
Our mother and grandmother, Marguerite Ruth Billington Kirk 93, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 23, 2016. She died peacefully in her sleep while residing at The Hospice Residence Care Center in Murray Utah. She was born June 4, 1922 in Twin Falls Idaho to Earl and Myrtle Ruth Cornmesser Billington. She married Dean Roy Kirk on January 16, 1941. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Marguerite was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including Relief Society President, Mutual President, Visiting Teacher and Primary Teacher. She and her husband also served at the Brighton LDS Girls camp for several years.
She was a 4H leader and was employed, with various businesses, while starting a young family to help make ends meet.
She was an excellent cook, enjoyed crocheting, genealogy work, wood furniture refinishing, and her many friends.
Surviving are her children, Wanda Louise Sanderson (Val), Elaine Sanderson (Charles), Carol Witbeck (Ned) and Evan Phillip Kirk (Janice).
She is reunited once more with her husband, Dean, parents, brother and sisters, and two grandchildren who preceded her in death.
The family expresses their gratitude to the Nursing staffs at the Canyon Creek Living Care Center, St. Marks Hospital, and The Hospice Residence Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Midvale East 1st Ward Chapel, 240 Greenwood Cir. (7500 S 240 E) Midvale, Utah. Friends may call prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Flowers may be delivered to the chapel that morning prior to services.
Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E 500 S, Salt Lake City, Utah.
