1993 – 2017
Matthew Steven Brown, 23, unexpectedly passed away at his parent’s home in Springville on February 20, 2017 due to natural causes.
He was born April 18, 1993, the fourth child of Carl and Eleisa (Carley) Brown of Springville, Utah. He graduated with high honors from Springville High School in 2011, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, the Concert Choir and Singers, yearbook staff, and the cross-country and track teams. He also earned the rank of Eagle Scout and three Palms. He attended Utah Valley University (UVU), and Southern Utah University (SUU). At SUU he was involved in the Levitt Center and volunteered as a new student orientation leader. At his passing he was enrolled at the University of Utah majoring in Public Relations. He worked as a bank teller and managed the social media presence for Sticks and Stems, a local business.
Matthew is known and loved for his bright and happy personality and his ability to lift everyone’s hearts. He shared his love of music with others by becoming an accomplished pianist. He also loved to travel with his friends and his favorite place to visit was the beach. Being active and fit were also very important to him and he enjoyed going to the gym and running. His friends and family will dearly miss his open smile and big blue eyes, his ability to make anyone laugh, his catch-phrases, and his passionate love of life.
Matthew is survived by his parents Carl and Eleisa of Springville; his brothers Michael (Tamera), Steven (Emilia), Aaron and his sister Erica. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, James and LaReen Carley of South Jordan, Utah and his paternal grandparents, Phillip and Shirley Brown of Mesa, Arizona. He is also survived by nephews, Phillip, Thomas and another due in June and niece Lydia. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00AM at the LDS Church located at 1460 E. 900 S., Springville Utah, with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Internment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
