Melinda Estelle Herrera's Obituary
Melinda Estelle Herrera, 48, of Stockton, Utah, passed away on April 14, 2026.
She was born on September 9, 1977, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Victor and Ruth Herrera. Melinda spent her early adult years working as a CNA, where caring for others was truly her calling. After overcoming her own battle with addiction, she devoted the later part of her life to helping others find recovery, serving as a peer support specialist and case manager.
Melinda had a contagious smile that made everyone feel welcome. She often went out of her way—even at her own expense—to make others laugh. She was a deeply spiritual person who loved camping with her family, taking selfies, and playing her music loud.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Herrera; her daughters, Dominique Summers (Nathen) and Breanna Atkinson (Louis); her son, Mario Carradine (Ruth); and her grandchildren, Ava Summers and Israel Carradine. She is also survived by her siblings: Ann Dogget (Grady), Michelle Herrera, Trini Herrera (Nicole), Victoria Huitt (Curtis), Loretta Herrera, and Lester Herrera (Stephanie), along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Victor “Slick Vic” Herrera; her granddaughter, Estella Summers; her nephew, DJ Montoya; and her grandparents on both sides of the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2026, at the Yasmin Event Center, 7700 S Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84084.
Melinda had a rare gift for seeing the good in everyone. In honor of her journey and the life she built helping others, anyone who may be struggling is encouraged to reach out—support is always available, and you are never alone.
