Michael Lyle Farley's Obituary
Our amazing Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and Husband/Ex-husband passed away on February 14, 2021. We were lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives. Our Dad had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and the ability to make each member of his family feel special. We challenged him over the years and after the initial slamming of the cupboards and yelling at the wall, he embraced us with love.
Our pops enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was camping, hunting, fishing, boating, going to Vegas and Wendover or just playing cards at the kitchen table. (He was a notorious cheater when it came to Rummy). He was fiercely competitive, which lead to many an argument on the version of his rule's vs the actual rules of the game. Additionally, he was a big treasure hunter spending time metal detecting, hot wheeling, and coin collecting.
Our dad loved watching sports, so much so even when his eyes were closed, we couldn’t change the channel – if you tried you would hear “I was watching that”. Just for the record it was golf, who watches golf!!
He loved spoiling his grandkids & great grand kids, we often joked that they could get away with anything, if they burned down his house, he would have complemented them on starting such a magnificent fire. He spent many summer days at Lagoon with his grandkids and great grand kids, winning stuffed animals in spill the milk and break the plate, he had amazing aim with a baseball.
In addition to spending time with his family, he really enjoyed getting together with Ron and Barney for coffee. Or as we dubbed it - “old man coffee”. He always looked forward to his old man coffee.
We learned family is everything from our pops. He kept our family close, staying close to our mom after they divorced. We all gathered as a family for every holiday, sharing laughter, stories, and dad’s world-famous clam dip.
We will miss you Dad, Pops, Papa.
