As her youngest son I believe I am the most blessed in some ways because for some period of time I was alone with her for a while. My earliest memories of my mom were her taking care of me. I was a very brittle diabetic from the time I was 18 months old and I remembered mom crying nearly every time she gave me a shot. I remember her doing calisthenics every morning usually before I was awake. Sometimes I would come out early enough to do them with her. Part of her workout was trying to touch her nose with her tongue. She would walk around for ten minutes like that . She said it would prevent double chins. It did, on the day she passed she never had a double chin. As I grew up she was both mother and father to me most of the time. The best memories I have were at bedtime when my brother Mark would sit on one side of my mom and I on the other and she would read stories to us and she would always give in when we asked for one more book. The best part of the nighttime ritual was prayers and songs. Mom was very dedicated to the Lord although we didn’t attend any church because she had not found the right one. After prayers came songs. Mom would stand in the doorway and sing so beautifully we would feel uplifted with every note. Our last song was the same every night. Go to sleep my little children hushaby my little children, mommy loves you and the Lord above you go to sleep my Mark and Chrissy. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend and mom I will love you forever and see you soon.
