Patricia Marie Root's Obituary
Patricia Marie Root passed from mortality and into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on August 02, 2012.
Pat was born July 17, 1940, in Salt Lake City , UT , firstborn child to Robert and Ruby Root. She was an active, fun-loving child who took great pride in her younger sisters and brother. That sense of pride continued on throughout her life.
Pat attended schools in Utah and California , graduating from El Rancho High School, Pico Rivera , CA in 1958. She graduated from Cosmetology School in California , where she worked as a beautician. She worked for many years alongside her parents in their multitude of businesses. In 1977 Pat married Clifford Christensen in the Manti Temple . They were blessed with their only child, Glen.
She was an active member of the LDS church, served as an LDS Stake Missionary in California , and enjoyed serving in the temple and attending Education Week. She had a strong testimony of the gospel.
Pat was a gentle spirit who loved people unconditionally. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing alongside her sisters or while watching her favorite musicals. She loved to attend family functions, to talk, to listen, and to simply be around family. Even though she wasn’t blessed with riches she had a Christ-like heart and enjoyed giving her possessions to others. Our hearts are saddened at her passing but we rejoice in knowing she has reunited with her loving parents and has been freed from her mortal limitations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband Clifford. She is survived by her son Glen (Carmen) Christensen and granddaughter Lilian of Brigham City. Also survived by siblings Robyn (Reed) Thomas, Mt Pleasant; John (Val) Root, Mapleton; Bette Root, La Verkin; Claire (Clark) Olsen, Alpine; Sally (Tom) Perkins, Heber City; Paula (Tony) Taylor, Sandy; Shauna Zeman, Springville, and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Country View Manor in Provo , for their compassionate service. Also a special thanks to her good friend, Elaine Richards.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am at the Alpine 6th Ward, 901 E Village Way, Alpine, with a viewing preceding at 10:00am. Interment held at American Fork Cemetery.
