Richard Dewey
I just learned of Paul's passing. He and I were the closest of friends in 1972 and about half of 1973 while he lived in Provo. I was his "trainer" at his first radio station -- KIXX in Provo that summer. As soon as we met, we clicked like brothers. He was looking for a place to live, and I told him to move to my place and be one of my roommates. So he walked into the station without job or home and left with both, and I with a new, great friend. We went to BYU football games together and spent much time hanging out, visiting girls' apartments, and being active in our church singles ward. After he moved he returned to Provo to MC a July 4th event at Kiwanis Park for Provo City, before it would move to the Stadium of Fire. And we spent great time together that day as well. He confided in me his later trials, and we would last connect in 1986 when he worked at Utah's top radio station - FM100, where I had an ad campaign going and I would visit him in the control room. What a great friend and great guy! He and I shared the same sense of humor as well and we laughed a lot. I've missed him over the years and wondered what happened to him. Now I've rediscovered him, and have no doubt that he's in a much happier place. If any of his family see this, I would greatly appreciate an email to learn more about him and his family that he had after I knew him. [email protected]
