I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Pete.

My family and I first met Pete while he was in his LDS Church Service Mission in Buffalo, New York. Pete worked and learned the masonry trade from my dad. My dad also was serving a LDS Church Service Mission in Buffalo, New York and was teaching these young Missionaries’ trades while building a new Chapel there. Pete meant a lot to our family and he was like a big brother to me and was always so kind and helpful. We had some fun times with these Missionaries and they will always be in our hearts.

My dad had a stroke while he was building our home for my husband and myself. Pete came to the rescue and finished laying the brick on our home since my dad was unable to complete the work. Pete's fingerprints will literally remain on my home forever. He will always be in our memories and will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Atwater family,
I am so sorry to learn about your dad's passing. We have missed both he and your mom in our ward these past many years. Whenever I think about Pete, my mind always goes to hearing him quote his favorite scripture: "...and men are, that they might have joy." And then he would say how he took that scripture to heart when he married your mom. It was always so cute to hear him talk about that. Pete always seemed to exude joy as well as being married to Joy. Always a lot of fun to talk to him. He will definitely be missed.
I hope that you will all be blessed with peace, comfort and joy as you mourn his loss but think about the great reunion he's had with his sweetheart. May God bless you all at this time of mourning.

Peter was one of the most gentle and kind person i have ever known. He had patience like no one i have ever seen. He was so good to his wife, my sister Joy. He will be missed. I am greatful i got to spend time conversing about scripture and our loving Christ. I know he and Joy are celebrating being together again for eternity. Love Ruth ann

Such a great friend. I never tired of hearing stories of his life and even more oh his children's accomplishments. He was so proud of them and so very much in love with their mother. We had a special bond that was always sealed with prayer. I loved hearing him pray and it was obvious how much he lovedthe Lord. He is now in the presence of our Savior and in the arms of his wife, parents and family members who went on before him. His father can now see him and I’m sure their reunion was amazing. I will always treasure the time we spent together. He was and is a great man. ’
