Raymond Hintze
I became acquainted with Phil during his tenure on the Salt Lake County Commission . I was a law student at the U Law school and worked part time as legal advisor. When Commissioner Hunt left the commission Phil invited me to be his administrative assistant. We became great friends and after graduation
Phil became one of my clients. He and Robert Weeks had many ventures together and I advised both of them. They invited me to join them on a fishing trip to the Yukon Territory of Canada. Phil and I shared a fishing boat for most of the time. One day we ran the motor aground on a shallow spot and broke the shear pin so we rowed the boat back to the dock to replace the motor. I started removing the damaged motor and Phil got off the boat to get a replacement motor. We didn’t tie the boat to the dock and when Phil returned with the motor and stepped into the boat with one foot with thr other foot on the dock. His motion caused the boat to move away from the dock so he ended up doing the splits. We both burst into laughter which made us incapable to correct the situation. This situation became more crippling when Phil broke wind! i finally worked my way to grab the dock and pulled the boat back to the dock. Phil dropped the motor onto the dock then fell facedown on the dock with crippling laughter. I got out of the boat and we both laid on the dock in uncontrolled laughter for many minutes. We relived that experience with each other for the rest of our association. I’ll miss his friendship. Raymond Hintze
