Philip Reed Blomquist's Obituary
Philip Reed Blomquist, passed away peacefully August 17, 2021, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Philip was born to Allen Reed Blomquist and Virginia Sundberg Christiansen on January 23, 1930 in Richfield, Utah. He married his sweetheart, Sara Lou Shuldberg, on January 29, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple. Philip and Sara Lou’s love story lasted for 66 years and inspired others to love.
Philip served an LDS mission in Sweden, and actively served in his church community and congregation. Philip was passionate about many different ventures in his life and was particularly proud of the work he did as a Salt Lake County Commissioner. It was apparent to all who knew him that he cared deeply for his family, neighbors, and friends.
Philip was preceded in death by his wife Sara Lou and is survived by his children, Phyllis Wallin (Hans), Lou Ann Crowther (Jay), Philip (Debbie), Paul (Jana), Barbara Tanner (Mark), Linda Worthington (Ed), and Sue Nelson (Joel); 26 grandchildren; and 57 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Janet Edwards and Kathryn McAllister. He is survived by his brothers Karl, Steven (Viola), Alan (Sharon), and Keith.
Due to Covid and the risk to the health of family members, there will be an immediate family graveside service on Saturday. Those outside the immediate family may share expressions of condolences or memories of Philip on the Premier Funeral Services Website or contact family members directly.
