Philip Reed Blomquist II's Obituary
Philip R Blomquist II passed away on August 22, 2022.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 16, 1956 to Sara Lou and Philip Blomquist Sr. Married Debbie Austin on July 16, 1981. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Phil served an honorable mission to the Canada Montreal Mission from 1975 to 1977. Phil served in many church positions. His most cherished calling was with the young single adults as a member of their Bishopric. Phil graduated from Granite High School and the University of Utah (GO UTES!!).
Phil owned and operated Bicycle Center and Fishers Cyclery for over 40 years. He developed life-long relationships with his employees, customers, and fellow dealers.
Phil loved his family. He taught his children to work hard, to champion the underdog, and to always take the higher road. Phil’s greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, his children, their spouses, and his Grandperfects. Phil had a dry sense of humor. He would intently listen to a conversation, and unexpectedly drop a one liner that would cause an eruption of laughter.
Phil is survived by his wife, Debbie; children: Lisa (Isaac) Oakeson, Steven (Alesha) Blomquist,
Katie (Trey) Bourgeois, and nine Grandperfects; siblings Phyllis Wallen (Hans), Lou Ann Crowther (Jay), Paul (Jana), Barbara Tanner (Mark), Linda Worthington (Ed), and Sue Nelson (Joel). Preceded in death by his parents.
The family expresses heart-felt thanks to the following medical professionals who worked tirelessly on Phil’s behalf: Dr. James Pearl, Dr. David Tien, Dr. Donald Morris, Dr. Sanjiv Anand, Dr. Aamir Raza, Dr. Zubair Zafar, Kate Johnson, Minnie Dantis-Tan, Renata Strzelec, Melissa Sanchez, and Paden Limb. A special thanks to the IMC 10th floor nurses & aides and Aspen Ridge for their kind compassionate care. The family is grateful to C.J. Stringham for his unwavering commitment to give Phil a second chance at life! We love you C.J.
Funeral Services for Phil will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 1925 E Gundersen Lane, Holladay, Utah.
