Randall "Randy" D. Sorenson's Obituary
Randy Sorenson entered this life on Jan 4th 1954 and left Oct 2nd 2021 unexpectedly and tragically. No one expected him to leave, and it is with great sorrow that we now must carry on without him. Randy was born to wonderful parents Durell and Shyrleen Sorenson in Gunnison, Utah and later moved to Richfield where he graduated from Richfield High. SUU would be his higher education and finished out at Stevens Henager College. He would prove to himself and the world that the status quo was never good enough. He was an influencer. He made things happen against the odds. Although he held 2 patents and a copyright, his longest lasting achievement was the help in developing the Pilot Car Program for the states of Utah, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota and others. His influence on the industry was largely based in his ability to teach and certify pilot car drivers across the U.S. and Canada. His passion allowed him to become a leader in promoting safety for the moving of oversize loads. In the end, whatever he touched he left it better than when he found it. For his family life, he and Terri had just celebrated their 46th anniversary on Sept 27th. He was a grandparent to 6 grandchildren (Emily, Ethan, children of Travis and Vicki) (Colby, Spencer, Sadie, and Megan, children of Jeremy and Marci). Both Randy and Terri had retired in 2017 and were in the middle of their plans to move to Sevier County and build a home where they would finish out their lives together. He had put his heart into this project, but his untimely passing leaves these plans unfulfilled. He is survived by his wife Terri, Father Durell (wife Pam), brother Kent (wife Diane), and his 2 sons Travis and Jeremy. While his passing was abrupt and unpredictable, we are glad he did not suffer. Randy, you will be missed. Sorry you left us so early.
We would invite all who can attend to a viewing @ 10 am and funeral service @11 am on Saturday October 16th at the church located in Sandy City, UT 235 E. 9800 So.
