Randy Rehrer's Obituary
Randy Rehrer passed away surrounded by family on June 11, 2025.
Born September 20, 1954 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Randy was the first of five children born to Robert and Donna Rehrer. The family moved to Garden Grove, CA, where Randy grew up playing basketball and football. Upon graduation from high school, he went on to play football at Golden West Junior College, before receiving a football scholarship to play at Idaho State. It was there that he met and fell in love with wife, Lynnett. Together they shared seven children and later, 32 grandchildren.
After earning his degree, Randy became an educator and coach, leading several football and girls basketball teams to state championships. After 18 years in Idaho, the family moved to Utah where he continued his career for another 20 years.
Randy devoted his life to his family and an extended family of students he worked with over his nearly 40-year career as an educator and high school football and basketball coach. Students remember his civics classroom as a place that valued lively discussion and engagement over memorization, and practical, real-world application over textbooks.
Since his passing, both family and former students have shared similar anecdotes of Randy’s strength for allowing people to be themselves and to remain a quiet presence in their lives while they learned their own lessons. As a man who sat at the helm of a large family, classrooms and sports teams, he led with respected authority. He was incredibly proud of the leadership and success he developed in both his students and players.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnett; children Brandon (Emily), Katie Hart, Tyler (Karlee), Casey (Hannah), Jordan (Samantha), Tannar (Maggie); stepson, Michael Stone (Ashlee); his brothers, Rick and Robert; sisters, Robin Rehrer and Ruthie Morris; and 32 beloved grandchildren.
