I know Mr. Druce simply as "Marie's dad". I have worked with Marie for close to 15 years and her dad was a constant presence and example to all of us. We had work BBQa and he would pull up his tailgating grill and cook burgers for hundreds of people. I had a few opportunities to speak with him and to understand his love for country, his love of God, and his love especially for his family. I'm honored to have spent even a few hours with a special man like "Marie's dad". Much love, Jeff Thomas

My condolences to those who knew and loved Paul. I only had the pleasure of knowing him for a short time. Aside from his obvious love for the Utes, the other thing I learned about him was that he had a great love and dedication to his family. He shared stories of those he knew and loved, who touched his life in a positive way. I saw his eyes light up and a smile spread across his face at the sight or sound of his children, grandchildren and especially great – grandchildren. He was proud of you all, and an inspiration to me. He faced his trials head on, with courage and determination. I am proud to have known him and become his friend. In the words of the late R. Paul Druce, “Go Utes!”.

Paul has been a wonderful friend of Jay Shields. They and their wives have been a force to laugh and enjoy time together with. Jay has been missing his friend Paul, and trying to call him. Now, Jay says he will just talk with Paul, through the veil.

Dear Druce Family,

I sincerely am so sorry for the loss of your father, brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great, Great Grandfather and FRIEND!

Paul (Daddio as I liked to call him) was such a friendly, social and GENEROUS little bugger! I adored his love for his children and his Grandchildren, and how passionately he protected them and was there for them in their times of need. I see this love and compassion in his children. One in particular I have grown very close to, and she is very special to me. I am honored to claim her as my sister! Marie MacKenzie is one of the most compassionate, genuine individuals that I have a the privilege and blessing of having in my life.

I also loved Paul's stories. He could carry on like no other. Paul knew how to show gratitude to those who were good to him and his family. He always made sure that everyone was included and had plenty of food at the tailgate parties. He enjoyed feeding people. At one time he came to our Executive Banking Power Training with his little tailgate BBQ attached to his truck and cooked Hamburgers and hotdogs for our team of about 50!! This brought him JOY! And well... Many others that benefitted from his generosity!

May you rest in peace! But I know you won't. Rather, you will be busy bodying around visiting and watching over your Prosperity.

Dad, you are my life-line! The short 55 years I got to share with you have been full of love, joy, laughter! Your example to our family has been one of commitment, hard work, love ❤️ and Joy!!!! You have left an amazing footprint in my life and everyone who crossed your path. I can't imagine living the rest of my life without you here!!! I take comfort in knowing that you are with your parents, siblings and other loved ones! I hope you are dancing in the sky!!!! I love you so much! I can just imagine Paul getting to the gates of heaven, turning around, and saying "Go Utes." Paul was a true Ute who introduced me to his tailgating friends and loved to tell stories about the Utes who had gone to the NFL and return to tailgate. His potato salad recipe was one he wouldn't share. Despite the differences in ages, Paul was a special friend who was there to lend a hand and an ear. Of course, he didn't mind sharing words on the golf course either. My sympathies and prayers go to you, his whole family. He always was proud of you and loved you dearly. Roberta Sweeney

I never had the opportunity to meet Paul but I knew his Mother from Swedetown and loved the family. I used to hear his mom talk about Paul when we delivered food from the food bank for her. I am so sorry for your loss. Sue Barnum Ashby.
