Dear Erickson family,
It is always difficult for us to know what to say that will provide any comfort to you. Just know that we are thinking about you and we are praying for you. Take time to write down your favorite memories of Richard so your children, grandchildren and all of his descendants will have a chance to know him.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Richard was such a sweet, friendly person who always treated us like we were the only ones in the room. We wish you peace in your lives and know that he is with your mom now and is very happy. We send our love.
Dear Josh, Caleb, Leifka, Jeremy, Jessie and Esther,
Words can’t describe the sadness we feel for you with the passing of your father. He was Our friend, he was our brother. I will never forget meeting you kids for the first time, such a cute bunch of wild boys, and one timid little girl. (Esther came months latter.) I feel so privileged to have watched you grow up. Though your lives have been a big struggle, filled with much sadness, all of you have been bacons of light to a world of darkness.
Our family will treasure the past 2 years of FHE with Richard, Jeremy and Esther. He taught us so much.
I will miss his big smile, his singing, his great knowledge of the Gospel, His love for your mother and his Savior, most of all his HUGS. He told me he didn’t want to go, he wanted to stay, the first swear word I ever heard your dad say was, “This Damn cancer”. I had to agree. But, just like a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ he said, not my will Father, but yours.
It is so hard to say goodbye to your father, grandfather, brother, uncle, Friend, but just as the years separate us, they have a way of bring us back together again. May you find peace in the loving arms of the Savior, and comfort in his great love that he has for you.
