Richard “Rodney” Myers
7/11/1950 – 5/24/2017
Richard Rodney Myers passed away on May 24th, 2017. Rodney was born on July 11th, 1950 to Perry “Tug” Myers and Shirley Jean Rolfe in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Chesterfield and in 1967 met the love of his life Patsy Ann who he married in 1968. He joined the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam as a door gunner and crew chief on a helicopter. He served another year in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1971.
Through his life Rodney worked for Jordan Meat, Kennecott, and Hill Air-force Base. He was then a long haul truck driver for the rest of his career. He loved race car driving and raced cars at the Fairgrounds and Bonneville raceway on and off for 20 years. He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.
Rodney is survived by his wife Patsy, children Shawnee, Justin (Erica), Scott and Randi (Chris), siblings Roger, Russell, Lora Lee, Debbie, JoLayne, Ricky Don, 14 Grandkids, 4 ½ Great Grandkids, many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Perry his niece Brooklyn and his nephew Travis.
Rodney’s family will be celebrating his life on June 4th, 2017 at Riverview Park from 1-4 pm with Military honors being held at 3pm.
